What do professional stylists do? In short, she or he creates a unique style or look for an individual or model by combining clothes and accessories to great effect. Stylists work at major fashion shows, on advertisements and magazine shoots and for private clients (the latter are often referred to as image consultants).
Becoming a stylist demands a broad interest in fashion and a real eye for style. If you have what it takes, training can help you understand more about the body, colour, clothing and fashion trends – and how to bring everything together. But to succeed, you’ll need to be extremely passionate, hardworking and enthusiastic, with a warm personality and tactful manner that enables you to provide constructive criticism without giving offence.
Being a stylist can be glamorous and exciting, as you work with fascinating people and regularly travel abroad. But it’s also very hard work, involving long hours and carrying heavy bags, so it’s not for the fainthearted!
The Introduction to Personal Styling event gives you the chance to learn the basic skills of the trade, which you can build upon with further training and work experience (full details of which will be given during the event). |
